Ayres Adventures - Escape to Antarctica (and Ushuaia)

Lago Pehoe

Our 31-Day "Escape to Antarctica Adventure" is an exciting "once in a liftime" adventure that includes the most popular destinations from our popular "Escape to Ushuaia" trip, plus a cruise to Antarctica on a 5-Star luxury expedition ship. This is the first time a motorcycle tour to "The End of the World" actually includes a cruise to the end of the world!

Riders will begin their adventure in Buenos Aires, Argentina where we'll attend a tango show and dinner at a popular Bueos Aires nightclub. Departing Buenos Aires, riders will travel through the Argentine Pampas, Patagonia, and Tierra del Fuego on their way to Ushuaia - the southernmost settlement in the world. After arriving in Ushuaia, riders will board the Corinthian II for a spectacular 11-day (10-night) cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula. After returning to Ushuaia, riders will return to their motorcycles and head for Torres del Paine National Park in Chile and the Perito Merino Glacier in Argentina. The trip will end in Punta Arenas, Chile.

This Adventure is not an "expedition". Almost all of the route is paved and the hundred or so kilometers which is not paved is hard-packed gravel that is in good condition. The trip is very suitable for two-up riding. Non-riding companions who may not wish to make the entire trip by motorcycle may fly to Ushuaia to join us for the Antarctica cruise and return home upon completion of the cruise.

Attractions of this special Adventure include:

  • Buenos Aires - "The Paris of South America". Our two-night stop will include a tango show at a popular Buenos Aires nightclub .
  • Mar del Plata - Argentina's most popular beach resort
  • Peninsula Valdez - one of South America's finest wildlife reserves and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to sea lions, elephant seals, penguins, guanacos, and many other forms of wildlife.
  • The penguin colony at isolated Cabo Dos Bahias, where you'll walk among thousands of penguins.
  • Puerto San Julian, where the name "Patagonia" came to be while Magellan and his crew spent the winter in the town's harbor in 1520. Sir Francis Drake, Charles Darwin and Francisco de Viedma have also visited this interesting town.
  • Ushuaia - One of the world's most exotic motorcycling destinations - the southernmost settlement in the world.
  • ANTARCTICA! - A luxury cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula
  • Torres del Paine National Park - South America's most popular national park.
  • Perito Merino Glacier, Argentina

Riders will spend three nights in Ushuaia - the southernmost settlement in the world. More than simply a destination to be recorded in a log book, Ushuaia is a great base for additional two-wheeled excursions.

The stop at "El Fin Del Mundo" will provide time to explore this marvelous part of the world, including Tierra del Fuego National Park.  Other potential side trips include aride to Puerto Harberton - and beyond - to the southernmost point in the world to which it's possible to ride a motorcycle.

Riders will also cruise the Beagle Channel south of the Straights of Magellan to photograph seals, sea lions, and penguins. There will also be plenty of time to enjoy the town's restaurants and shopping opportunities.

On the return trip, riders will visit Chile's famous Torres del Paine National Park, where they will stay at a small hotel situated on an island on one of the park's shimmering lakes.

Proceeding north from Torres del Paine, guests will visit the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the largest and most impressive glaciers in the world, where huge chunks of ice "calve" and crash into the water regularly.

We'll end the trip in Punta Arenas, Chile.
